What’s new in ReadyRoam
Small improvements for the next adventure. The mobile app and backend server have separate release histories.
Backend server
1.3.0 — Sign in your way
Single sign-on joins the existing password-based sign-in options.
- Sign in through OpenID Connect providers such as Authentik and Google.
- Connect Microsoft Entra ID (Office 365), with tenant-specific identity matching and control over guest access.
- Configure one provider through environment variables, or several providers in a YAML file.
- Match existing accounts by email on first sign-in when the provider is trusted, then identify returning users by their provider identity.
- Control account creation and allowed email domains independently of password registration.
- Make SSO the only sign-in method with
PASSWORD_LOGIN=false. - Check provider configuration and the callback address with the new
sso checkcommand.
Setup: SSO is optional. Configure a provider and its callback URL before disabling password login. Existing sessions are not automatically revoked when someone loses access at their identity provider; use admin disable to sign them out immediately.
1.2.0 — Shared plans, smoother sync
11 October 2026
- Added a server account directory, with search for larger directories.
- Added the option for trip owners to add people from that directory directly to a trip.
- Improved sync to merge edits by individual field and edit time, preserving changes to different fields made on different devices.
- Added support for private and shared trip checklists.
- Added support for recording whether a packing item was used on a trip.
- Expanded self-hosting instructions for company servers.
Setup: The directory and direct-add features are opt-in. Use DIRECTORY=true and, if wanted, DIRECT_ADD=true. The directory exposes account names and email addresses to other account holders on that server.
1.1.0 — A welcome at your server’s address
7 October 2026
- Added a welcome page at the server’s root address.
- Changed the default server name to Roam Home.
- Updated documentation and the privacy policy to remove vaccination references.
1.0.0 — Ready for self-hosting
4 October 2026
- Established the first 1.0 release of the self-hosted server.
- Added closed registration by default, with administrator-created accounts or optional open registration.
- Added rate limits for sensitive account operations.
- Added account deletion controls.
- Added self-hosting documentation and a privacy policy.
Mobile app
1.3 — Current app version
The app and server use independent version numbers and release schedules.
The app is not publicly released yet. Coming soon.
Android and iOS release notes will appear here as public versions become available.
Updating your server
Back up your database before updating. Database migrations run when the new server starts; reverting to an older image may require restoring the backup.
